Santiago Del Curto is an eight year old
clarinetist. Born in Brooklyn, NY, he began
studying the clarinet in kindergarten at the
Special Music School.
In 2014, Grammy Award–winning Latin jazz clarinet legend Paquito D'rivera composed a piece for Santiago called "Blues for Santi" after hearing his performance at the kindergarten concert. Last summer, Paquito has invited Santiago to perform as a special guest with his quintet at the Montclair Jazz Festival.
This past summer, Santiago had two successful performances at the Aspen Music Festival and Salida Aspen Concerts where he received standing ovations. Last year, as a first grader, he was chosen to participate in a master class by the principal clarinetist of the New York Philharmonic, Anthony McGill, and was invited to perform at the opening of the Kaufman Music Center Gala.
Santiago began his studies with Katherine Cooke and currently he is studying with Liam Burke.c He loves animals, cars and trains, swimming, and all things French. One of his biggest dreams is to go on a trip from London to Paris and to Cannes by Eurostar and TGV, the French high–speed train.
